Terms and Conditions

Travel Ethiopia PLC is an Ethiopian tour operator headquartered in Addis Abeba. Please carefully read these Terms and Conditions as they form the basis of our obligations to you and vice versa.

1. Booking

The receipt of a deposit payment will be interpreted by Travel Ethiopia as an acknowledgment that the agency or individual has read, accepts, and agrees to be bound by the terms outlined in this document.

2. Administration Fee

A non-refundable administration fee of USD 150 (one hundred fifty USD) is required to make a reservation and it will be deducted from the total tour cost however it will be non-refundable if the tour is canceled.

3. Payment

On tour confirmation, agencies or individuals making bookings with Travel Ethiopia must make the following payments.

3.1 Regular Tours

Upon tour confirmation, you will be charged 30% of the overall tour cost. The outstanding amount must be paid 60 days before the tour begins.

3.2 Holidays and Peak Seasons Tours

Upon tour confirmation, you will be charged 40% of the overall tour cost. The outstanding amount must be paid 90 days before the tour begins.

3.3 Large Group Bookings

12 months prior to the group arrival, you will be charged 30% of the overall tour cost. The outstanding amount must be paid 90 days prior to the group arrival.

3.4 Late Bookings

Bookings made less than 45 days before departure require complete payment at the time of confirmation and are nonrefundable.

3.5 Limalimo and Simien Lodge Bookings

Whenever the package includes the above mentioned lodges, please consider the following. Simien Lodge needs a 20% upfront charge to validate the reservation, which would be deducted from the total amount if the trip occurs and is nonrefundable if the tour is canceled. Limialimo Lodges has a nonrefundable booking fee of $10 per room per night.

4. Cancellations

Travel Ethiopia will charge and refund its clients for booking cancellations depending on the terms set out below taking into account the opportunity cost, operating cost, currency variation cost, and other unpredictable costs. Please keep in mind that tour booking cancellations must be made in writing, and upon written notice, Travel Ethiopia will withhold the charges and refund the remaining amount, according to the conditions mentioned below. Notification receipt between 89 to 61 days prior to trip departure: 50% of the total tour cost will be charged. Notification receipt between 59 to 31 days prior to trip departure: 70% of the total tour cost will be charged. Notification less than 30 days prior to trip departure: 100% of the total tour cost will be charged. Please be advised that, in the event of a refund due to the above circumstances, Travel Ethiopia is not responsible for any bank charges for the transaction, and any exchange rate discrepancy that might arise will be deducted from the refund sum.

5. Liability

Travel Ethiopia and its agents can only act as agents of passengers in matters relating to hotel accommodation, transport of tour by aircraft, boat or any other means, and shall not be liable for any consequential damage, injury, schedule change, delay, property loss, etc. Pertinent to laws of Ethiopia, Travel Ethiopia shall be liable for passengers carried in its own vehicles and for any other damage caused by its deployed personnel. Travel Ethiopia reserves the right to subcontract part or full parts of the expected agreed services. Travel Ethiopia is not liable for any flight or charter cancellation or delay. Trip cancellation and baggage insurance is recommended. If full payment is not made as stated above, Travel Ethiopia is under no obligation to accept the client and offer tour facilities, unless other arrangements have been made in advance, and no refunds will be made.

6. Force Majeure

If a trip is canceled or postponed due to force majeure (war, labor strikes, wildfires, earthquakes, flooding, epidemic, a major world event negatively affecting international travel patterns, etc.), Travel Ethiopia can have a travel credit or refund the portion of the trip cost that is recoverable by making good faith efforts to recover payments already advanced to suppliers (hotels, transportation companies, etc.). The balance will be refunded as soon as possible. Travel Ethiopia, however, does not guarantee the recovery of any or any of the advance payments made, and our use of good faith attempts to recover these payments would not require the institution of any legal proceedings in national jurisdictions. Travel Ethiopia is not responsible for trip participants' costs incurred in arranging for a canceled or delayed trip.
